Prompt: Make. What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?
I spent a few precious and lovely moments with my daughter last Thursday afternoon making good old fashioned chocolate chip cookies, from scratch. At our house, fresh baked cookies come from a mix: add an egg and some oil and presto-cookie-o! That we actually used flour and sugar made this a special endeavor for us both.
We made the Toll House cookies with the recipe from the mini-chocolate chip bag (minus the nuts). As I pulled out all the ingredients, she got to work measuring and stirring. While we worked we chatted about the everyday things and enjoyed each other’s company. The end result was four dozen (four!) cookies that and two happy women.
Cookies may be what we made, but what I value much more was the time spent with the very special, smart young lady I am blessed to call daughter.
That's very, very sweet. Sharing a beautiful mother/daughter moment.
